PC World magazine tested and selected top 10 antivirus software. Surprisingly, a not-so-well-known company, BitDefender, came up as No. 1 based on its performance, ease of use, features, and price. My favorite virus scan took the No. 5 spot. (Ouch, that really hurts my feeling!) Several free software made it to top 10, they will be marked as (free) accordingly. Keep in mind that most of these software companies have already released a newer version, so you can assume some of them actually got a little bit better or worse. Link is provided to the updated version if available. Here’s the top 10 list: Read more »

Video surveillance is only as good as the person who monitors it. I wouldn’t want those security guards in the following video to protect my property. Funny stuff! This Australian TV show made me laugh. Take a look, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Wow, good deals keep on coming! For those who are fans of Norton, you will like this one. You aren’t only getting this antivirus software for free, you actually can make some money in the process. Norton AntiVirus is one of the most reliable virus scans out there. Although it didn’t get good reviews at Amazon.com, I have personally used it for years without a single problem. Don’t take my words for it. At least you should give it a try, especially, you can profit from it.
A $20 rebate expires on 12/31/06 that requires a photocopy of previous Norton security product or similar products from other companies. Never use any of them? You’re a brave soul! Solution: just borrow your friend’s installation CD and make a photocopy of it as a proof. There you go! Another $20 rebate expires on 9/30/06. Again, the shipping is free. With price at $36.99, you end up keeping a profit of $3.01. Woohoo… > amazon

According to the Chicago Police, a can safe like this one is better than a locked safe because most burglars spend less than 6-8 minutes inside a victim’s home and they only have enough time to check the most obvious places for valuables. That sounds pretty reasonable I say. This safe doesn’t store a lot of stuff, but it costs many times less than a regular one. If you don’t need a big safe, this is definitely the way to go. One small thing though, you probably want to make sure someone in your home won’t really use this as a toilet cleaner. You know…he/she could accidentally dump all your cash and jewelry into the toilet. That wouldn’t be good! > amazon

This Zippo-lighter-like camera is another must-have gadget for a super spy. I posted another very similar camera with a price tag of $69.99. This one is much cheaper. For $16.99, you can either buy a case of cheap beer or get this awesome spy camera. Although I had an urge to pick the first option, my spy wannabe in me did finally overcome that so-very-tending thought. I say I will get this cool camera first and get drunk later. Glad I have my priority straight! OK, back to the camera, it features 1.3 Mega pixels and 16MB of memory. It can capture 40 shots of 1280×1024 image, 80 shots of 800×600 image, or 160 shots of 640×480 images, otherwise, we can use it to film 320×240 video for 4 minutes. Want to shot photos with no hand? No problem, just set the 10-second timer and there you go. Along with this digital cam, it also comes with a USB cradle for recharging its internal battery and uploading photos or videos to your computer. Shipping cost is $5.58. No sales tax in most states. I don’t know when this special promotion will end, you probably should get it soon. > geeks.com

Not many people have the balls courage to post their phone numbers on the internet, but for few individuals who do, they have learned their lesson. Take a buddy of mine as an example, he had his phone numbers on his online auction page, not too soon before he realized he made a big mistake. This poor guy got one of those psycho callers on his tail. To keep the story short, he ended up getting a new phone number.
Thing like this can’t stop you, can it? Because some of you still want to talk on the phone with a complete stranger you met on the Web. Fortunately, we have jangL coming to rescue. With jangL, you can communicate with anyone using your phone, even without ever exchanging phone numbers. The idea is simple: Read more »

Everyone likes a good deal. Here is another perfect deal for the paranoid that we are I am. This file safe is both fireproof and waterproof. You can store up to 1.3 cu. ft. of important documents and other valuables in there. That’s actually pretty good size for a safe. And the best of all, it costs only $49.49 plus tax after a $20 instant rebate and a $30 mail-in rebate. Click this link to check out the second item from the top that states “Up to $50 Rebate” for promotion details. I think you must purchase it online to qualify. Offer expires on 9/16/06. Don’t worry, shipping is also free. Strange…I believe they got to lose some money on this item, since the safe is about 90 lbs to ship. But who cares? I’m getting one right now. > staples.com

I know I know, you just saw a USB drive from the last post, but this one is such a good deal, I got to mention it here again. First of all, I purchased one of this few months back but with a smaller 512MB of memory. It comes with a strong 256 bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption. Ha, try to break that! Nothing to complain about this flash drive except the case does look a little cheap. I paid $10 for mine after a $30 mail-in rebate. The rebate check arrived within 5 weeks in this experience.
Now you get the same privacy drive with double amount of memory for free after a $30 rebate. Anyway, it’s the lowest price I’ve seen so far. Shipping is also free as well. Offer expires on 12/31/06. > buy.com

When the safeguard of sensitive data is critical, you need this secure USB drive. Not a common flash drive for the wusses! It’s specifically designed for the corporate & government market by meeting the information security and regulatory compliance. Come with 128 bit AES hardware encryption, mandatory user login, hack resistant, and few other bells and whistles. Not recommended for someone who has a habit of forgetting important passwords. > verbatim
