PC World magazine tested and selected top 10 antivirus software. Surprisingly, a not-so-well-known company, BitDefender, came up as No. 1 based on its performance, ease of use, features, and price. My favorite virus scan took the No. 5 spot. (Ouch, that really hurts my feeling!) Several free software made it to top 10, they will be marked as (free) accordingly. Keep in mind that most of these software companies have already released a newer version, so you can assume some of them actually got a little bit better or worse.
